My work explores the multiple perspectives on human conditions, such as happiness, anxiety, depression, and playfulness. Because of my wide assortment of mediums- spray paint, acrylic, and graphite- along with a combination of classical techniques with child-like sketches, I have the ability to achieve mark-making that represents stressed emotion with quick, anxious scratches to carefully placed, soothing strokes. Music also plays an important role in my creation process. The addition of phrases or words that I pull from the music I listen to aids in hinting at the overall concept of the piece. The way I compose the writing transforms into a code meant to be deciphered by the audience. The continued depiction of horns and halos stands as a metaphor for the angel and the devil on one's shoulders, exposing how we all have a good and bad side. My portraits also reflect the façade that people put up, whether it's conscious or subconscious. We as a human collective have so many feelings, thoughts, and impulses that manifested over the course of our lives and shaped the society we are in today. Our characters are not simply defined by nature but by the experiences, we have overcome and have yet to confront. These are the characters I wish to explore in hopes of finding answers for myself and helping others along the way.
